Elements are vital to our body, and the bodies of all living things, because our body is made of elements.

 Our body is made up of mostly 4 elements - Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and Oxygen - as you can see on the top left of the chart below.

Here, "you are what you eat," comes into play. So don't eat nuts... Just kidding. We need to consume these things every day too. 

We are made up of so much Oxygen and Hydrogen because 60% of body weight is water.  Water, also know as H2O, is two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
